[Wario&Waluigi The CRPG]

First, excellent character exploration.

Now, from what i know, Nintendo are the kings of unhinged designs and ideas.
I recommend you go through the Mario and Luigi Rpgs series- especially their design books.
You will have a lot of ideas to fuel your take on the Wahs.
The Marioland/Warioland games are places where you want to dig as well.

Twilight princess and the Oracle games, Metroid, Splatoon also have mangas fleshing out the backstories. You never know what you might find out!

Thank you! I plan to play many of these games. I believe what you say, and I was already convinced having played OOT and SMRPG, but still I'm not sure they'd take these characters to these extreme nowadays. Mario & Luigi are recent, but Warioland hasn't gotten any new entries in a long time, and the other games are somewhat old. Splatoon is a new IP, but I think I'm a fan of the shock that comes from creating new iterations of old relatively blank characters.
